Justice Center

The City of Gulf Shores is moving forward with a major investment in public safety: the construction of a new Justice Center. This modern facility will bring the Police Department, Municipal Courts, and Jail together under one roof, creating a centralized hub designed to meet the needs of a growing community.

Located on Medical Village Boulevard, the Justice Center will transform the former Sacred Heart Medical Office Building into a 42,000‑square‑foot facility that addresses critical space and operational challenges. In addition to housing law enforcement and court operations, the project includes construction of a new jail facility at the rear of the building and the creation of an incident command center to ensure continuity of operations during natural disasters and other emergencies.

The project was identified as a top priority following a city‑wide Staffing and Facility Needs Assessment conducted by Matrix Consulting Group in 2019–2020. That study highlighted the police station and jail as the facilities most urgently requiring replacement.

In January 2025, sealed bids were opened, and Persons Services Corporation was awarded the contract as the lowest conforming bidder. The $20.9 million project represents a significant commitment to providing law enforcement with the modern tools and space they need to serve and protect Gulf Shores residents.

Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months, with completion targeted for summer 2026.
