Master Transportation Plan

The City of Gulf Shores Transportation Plan serves as a roadmap for maintaining and improving our local transportation network. Originally adopted in 2019 to comply with Alabama’s Rebuild Alabama Act (HB 2), the plan ensures that Gulf Shores remains eligible to receive state funding generated through the gas tax increase. These funds are dedicated to roadway resurfacing, reconstruction, maintenance, and safety improvements across the city.

The plan is updated annually, most recently through Resolution 6728 (2024), to reflect current priorities and growth trends. By keeping the plan current, Gulf Shores can continue to invest in projects that:

  • Reduce traffic congestion and improve travel times
  • Enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety
  • Support economic development through reliable infrastructure
  • Promote sustainability and long‑term community growth

This ongoing commitment allows the City to strategically manage transportation needs while ensuring residents and visitors benefit from safer, smoother, and more connected travel throughout Gulf Shores.
