About the Herefordshire Local Plan Regulation-18 Consultation

The Herefordshire Draft Local Plan 2021-2041 outlines the land use strategy for the amount, location and types of development across the county up to 2041.

The introduction below will give you information on how and why the plan is being produced.

This consultation, which you'll see referred to as a 'Regulation 18 consultation' is seeking comments on policies which will guide new development. The consultation also sets out the potential strategic development sites within Hereford, the market towns and villages. It includes a list of rural settlements across the county where future growth will be directed. 

The Draft Local Plan includes a number of planning policies based on:

• National planning policy and guidance;
• Herefordshire Council corporate strategies; 
• Feedback received during previous consultations;
• Evidence base findings; and
• Consultation with internal and external service providers.

The supporting text, evidence base documents and, where relevant, topic papers provide the background and justification to these policies and are available to view on the website.
