Road Closure for Bridge Replacement Sully/Galesburg Area
Here you will find details and updates about an important improvement to our local infrastructure. We plan to replace a 64-year-old bridge in the Sully/Galesburg area with a new, modern structure designed to meet today’s safety and engineering standards and enhance long-term reliability for our community travelers.
Road Closure for Bridge Replacement
Highway F-62 over Elk Creek Bridge S07
The current 128 foot long bridge was constructed in 1962 and is a steel beam bridge with a poured concrete deck supported by concrete abutments over wood pile and concrete piling piers. This bridge will be replaced with a 201 foot long concrete beam bridge with a poured concrete deck supported by concrete abutments and piers with steel H-pile foundations.
The existing bridge at 64 years old has reached its end of life. Moreover, it was designed and built under the standards of its day, standards which no longer meet today’s requirements. Therefore, the new structure resets the clock and brings the bridge into compliance with current structural loading and stream hydraulic requirements.
During this project, 3.04 miles of Hwy F62 West will be closed.
Projected start date : Monday, April 27, 2026
Projected end date : Friday, November 27, 2026
