2025 Millage Renewals

On November 15, 2025, Lafayette Parish voters will decide whether to renew two existing property taxes—called millages—that fund essential public services. These are NOT new taxes or tax increases—just a renewal of existing funding that supports core services. A rededication is also being proposed to increase drainage investments in the parish.

1. Road & Bridge Maintenance Millage
4.47 mills generates ~$12.7 million per year which funds:
- Roadway Resurfacing & Reconstruction
- Roadway Widening & Capacity Projects
- Bridge Replacements
- Grass Mowing in Public Rights of Way (along roads and sidewalks)

2. Public Health & Safety Millage
3.81 mills generates ~$10.8M/year which supports:
- Drainage
- Rural Fire Protection
- Animal Shelter & Care Center
- Mosquito Control
- Coroner’s Office
- Public Health Services

(Based on assessed value with homestead exemption) $150K home = $5.18/month; $200K home = $8.11/month; $250K home = $12.08/month
Why It Matters:
If millages expire, Lafayette Parish will lose ~$23M in annual funding which currently supports:
