91st Avenue SE Sidewalk Phase II

Project Description

This project will construct a new multi-use path along 91st Avenue SE from 12th Street SE to 20th Street SE to improve pedestrian connectivity and complete a key segment of the corridor. The path will provide safer access to nearby neighborhoods, Hillcrest Elementary, Skyline Elementary, and Lake Stevens Middle School.
The project will include traffic-calming features intended to reduce vehicle speeds, such as raised crosswalks and narrower lane widths. Other improvements to expect are ADA curb ramps and pedestrian lighting.

Background

In 2022, voters approved the Transportation Benefit Program (TBP) resolution to fund construction of new sidewalks and multi-use paths in high-need areas throughout the city. One of the identified corridors is 91st Avenue SE which passes Hillcrest Elementary, Skyline Elementary, and Lake Stevens Middle School making it a crucial area for improvement.
In 2024, the City completed Phase 1 with a path stretching from 8th Street SE to Market Place. Phase 2 will continue those improvements by extending the multi-use path from 12th Street SE to 20th Street SE, completing the route and giving ample space for people to travel down 91st without a vehicle.
The City has secured an $800,000 award from WSDOT through the Safe Routes to School program.
