The project news has been quiet during April as the KPG-Psomas team has worked on laying out the new pedestrian and bicycle shared-use trail, including sizing the new driveway aprons and re-designing the stormwater grates for the new curb line.
During May, that changes. We will be reaching out to the property owners and tenants along 91st Avenue SE to provide more details about this summer's construction and the changes to the street in front of their houses and driveways. We will also be talking about what to expect during construction.
Common information we will be sharing includes:
- During construction, there will be pedestrian detours and traffic delays along 91st Avenue SE between Market Place and 8th Street SE, due to construction traffic control.
- Construction in the vicinity of the two 91st Ave SE Community Transit bus stops will temporary block service to those bus stops.
- Construction of new driveway ramps, including shared driveways and private roadway entrances, will be temporarily blocked for 1 to 3 days each, in order to building the new ramps to the street. We will do our best to keep you notified when it is your driveway's turn to be temporarily blocked, so that you can park outside your driveway.
- Cooperating with U.S. Postal Service policy to improve delivery safety, your mailboxes are being relocated off 91st Avenue SE to nearby public side streets. Individual mailboxes will be consolidated into U.S. Postal Service cluster box units. The postmaster will contact you with additional information on where your new mailbox is located and how to access it.
