131st Ave NE Sewer and Sidepath
Project Description
The project will construct approximately 2,000 LF of sanitary sewer main improvement from 2105 131st Avenue NE to the intersection of Old Hartford Road, and extending across city property from 131st Avenue NE to North Machias Road to increase sewer capacity and support future development in the area. A new sidepath will be constructed on the west side of 131st Ave NE to improve pedestrian and bicycle connectivity. As part of the City’s commitment to low impact development, the project will incorporate a roadside bioswale to help manage stormwater runoff and support environmental sustainability.
Background
The 131st Ave NE project was identified as a needed infrastructure improvement to serve the city’s developing Industrial Area and prepare for future utility and transportation needs. The new sewer main will expand system capacity and help lay the groundwork for additional infrastructure improvements in the corridor.
In addition to utility upgrades, the project will improve access for residents and visitors through the addition of a multi-use path. This path will create safer, more convenient connections while complementing the corridor’s long-term development.
The project is being designed to balance infrastructure investment with environmental stewardship. By incorporating low impact development features such as a bioswale, the City aims to improve drainage and water quality while enhancing the surrounding streetscape.
