How Does This Project Fit Into The Transportation Benefit Program?

This project will complete one phase of the Main Street roadway project funded by the Transportation Benefit Program (TBP) through a retail sales tax adopted by City voters on November 8, 2022. The retail sales tax for this program began to be collected on April 1, 2023 and is programmed to continue funding the design and construction of program-selected transportation projects listed in Resolution 2022-10 for a period of 10 years.

Resolution 2022-10 included a list of 20 street segments where completion of a continuous pedestrian route is desirable for the City, prioritized based on need. These pedestrian project segments have been numbered TBP-01 through TBP-20 for ease of reference.

This particular project combines two pedestrian route segments from the prioritized list into a single project delivery: TBP-02 (91st Ave SE from 4th St SE to Market Pl) and TBP-03 (91st Avenue SE from 8th St SE to 4th St SE). This project name includes “Phase 1” to distinguish it from a future TBP project segment also on 91st Ave SE (TBP-05; from 20th Ave SE to 12th Ave SE).
