Its been some time since the last update, but there is progress. Our Kimley-Horn team has completed the 30% design, and is now working towards the 60% milestone.
An ongoing construction project is turning Main Street into a central destination of Lake Stevens. This intersection will be the entrance to it and the first thing many visitors see. At a critical junction, it also sees many existing users. These stakeholders were given a chance to inform the design in a pre-application meeting. This includes, users such as the Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue, Community Transit, and the Lake Stevens School District. It is important to accomodate all oversized vehicles, to continue critical transit routes, school routes. Based on their comments and other developments, the consultant is reanalyzing the roundabout footprint, to design a friendlier roundabout for all users, with better pedestrian crossing and vehicle turning radius.
Enviromental biologists have visited the site, and are progressing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review. This is a critical step, and is needed before moving past 60% design.
