Lake Stevens WA
Stormwater Management Program

Stormwater Management Program

As Lake Stevens continues to grow, so does our responsibility to protect the natural beauty and health of our community's water resources. Increased development means more hard surfaces like roads, parking lots, and rooftops, which prevent rainwater from naturally soaking into the ground. This rainwater, known as stormwater runoff, often picks up pollutants like oils, dirt, and chemicals as it flows into our lakes and streams. To address these challenges, the City follows the guidelines of the NPDES Municipal Phase II Permit by implementing a comprehensive set of tools, programs, and outreach efforts that work to reduce pollution and safeguard the environment.

Each year, the City diligently updates its plan to outline actions aimed at supporting long-term water quality. With ten core elements, this program tackles everything from public education to infrastructure improvements, all designed to ensure our stormwater systems are effectively managed in a way that benefits the entire community. Your input plays a vital role in shaping these efforts, helping us create informed solutions reflecting the concerns and priorities of our residents. Together, we can build a sustainable future for Lake Stevens while preserving the quality of our beloved lakes and streams.
