Lake Stevens WA
91st Avenue SE Sidewalk Phase 2

91st Avenue SE Sidewalk Phase 2

Project Description

In 2022, voters passed the Transportation Benefit Program (TBP) resolution, embarking on a project to build new sidewalks and multiuse paths across the city in areas of need. One of those areas is 91st Avenue SE (TBP 5), near Hillcrest Elementary, Skyline Elementary School, and Lake Stevens Middle School. In 2024, the city constructed Phase 1 (TBP 2/3), from 8th Street SE to Market Place, building a new multiuse path and connecting existing sidewalk segments.
In Phase 2, the city will build a multiuse path from 12th Street SE to 20th Street SE, granting access to neighborhoods, and a complete route from 20th Street SE to Market Place. This project will use active transportation meaures to lower vehicle speed, such as raised crosswalks, and narrower lane widths. Other road improvements will be performed such as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramps, and pedestrian illumination.
The city has secured an $800k grant from WSDOT for the Safe Routes To School grant, and is awaiting to the results for a grant from the Transportation Improvement Board as well.
