Project Information

The City of Lebanon is currently considering legislation to formally change the name of Elm Street to Route 66. This proposal aims to:

  • Simplify Signage: Creating a clear, unified path for travelers and residents alike.
  • Boost Economic Development: Enhancing the branding of our local business corridor.
  • Promote Tourism: Making it easier for visitors to discover the multiple historic sites Lebanon has to offer.

We Want to Hear From You
We recognize that a formal name change is a significant transition for residents and property owners, as it would require individual address updates and changes to business signage. Your feedback is essential to this process.

As City Administrator Troy Schulte noted, "I believe this name change can provide significant benefits to Lebanon as a whole, but we need to hear from the people most directly affected by this proposed change.".

Resolution No. 26-R-006- A Resolution by the Mayor and City Council of Lebanon, Missouri

A resolution stating the City Council’s intent to rename Elm Street to Route 66 is scheduled for consideration at the February 9 City Council meeting. This action follows a public hearing held in January, which was attended by numerous members of the Lebanon–Laclede Route 66 Society. No members of the public spoke in opposition to the proposed name change.
