8. Landscape & Rural Development
How should we protect important landscapes and open areas, and support the vitality of rural communities?
Leeds Local Plan
Landscape & Rural Development
What is this topic about?
Around two thirds of the Leeds district is made up of countryside. It has a rich and varied landscape, ranging from farmland, semi-natural habitats, river valleys and former quarries to former industrial land and urban parks. The Plan will have an important role in helping to manage development in rural areas in a way that supports the rural economy, whilst protecting local character, the natural environment and the landscape.
We want to hear your views about how we should be planning for the landscape and rural development, including the approach to open land within the urban area.
