Otley Bridge

We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience whilst we completed this major footway upgrade.

Here’s a brief update on the final phase of the project.

Temporary traffic lights

Night-time works to Otley Bridge will take place this week on Tuesday and Wednesday for works on the footway and in the carriageway (subject to the weather). Further night-time work might be required in the coming weeks.

A crane is planned to arrive on Wednesday (3 December) and will remove the final span of the temporary footbridge and piles by 14 December.

After this the reinstatement of both riverside parks, either side of the bridge can continue.

Parks restored and tree planting

Tittybottle Park and a section of Wharfemeadows Park north of the river will be restored. This includes planting several trees in the parks (including two oak trees which were temporarily stored in a tree nursery) and 10 trees elsewhere in or around Otley.

The parks and Garnett's Field are expected to be fully restored for public use by the end January next year.

Lovelocks

Any lovelocks or inscribed padlocks are forbidden on the new footway to help preserve and maintain the fabric of the bridge.
