Leeds City Links

Below is an update regarding construction of the Leeds City Links scheme in Leeds city centre.

Great George Street

Paving works have been progressing well here – with some paving being completed outside business frontages. Once paving is complete, we will be able to open a wider area of pavement for pedestrians.

We realise these works are disruptive and thank everyone for their understanding.

Woodhouse Lane/Albion Street/Great George Street junction

The road closure on one arm of the Woodhouse Lane/Albion Street/Great George Street junction was lifted on 22nd May – vehicles are now able to use a single ahead lane to travel towards Merrion Street.

At present, there is no left turn from Great George Street onto Woodhouse Lane due to the works area, so there are still some diversion signs in place.

Call Lane

Work has now moved onto installing a new crossing and traffic island on the north-east quadrant of Call Lane by The Arches. There is also an area sectioned off here with barriers, to guide traffic into a narrower lane to provide protection for both construction workers and the public.

Kirkgate

Works will begin here soon, firstly at the eastern end of Kirkgate scheduled in July. Affected businesses will be contacted before works begin.

Thank you for your continued patience during the works. You can contact us at any time at connectingleeds@leeds.gov.uk.

Further information about the scheme can be found here.
