Leeds City Links

We would like to provide you with an update on the construction works currently underway as part of the Leeds City Links scheme.

Great George Street

Progress is being made on Great George Street between Park Street and Leighton Street, where paving works on the southern side of the road are now complete. Further along Great George Street, between Oxford Row and Park Street, paving works continue outside the shopfronts, opening up new sections of street where we can. Works have also commenced on the northern side of the road to Thoresby place, where new pedestrian crossings and a cycle lane are being installed.

Between Oxford Row and Oxford Place, works have switched to the opposite side of the road, tree pits have been excavated, and kerb installation has started.

Calverley Street

On Calverley Street, tree pits have been excavated as part of the ongoing and soil installed in preparation for future planting and helping to create a greener environment. The new paving to the street here is also underway.

Woodhouse Lane/Albion Street/Great George Street junction

At the Woodhouse Lane junction, paving works continue to progress, with partners now working outside the Blue Pavilion where the next section of paving is being installed. These improvements will help create a more accessible and attractive streetscape for pedestrians while supporting the wider regeneration of the city centre.

Call Lane

Works are progressing along Call Lane alongside The Coachworks, where a new segregated cycle lane is being installed. As part of the wider improvements to Call Lane, a new pelican crossing will be installed to replace the existing crossing, improving accessibility and safety for pedestrians travelling through the area. Kerb installation works remain ongoing, with activity now taking place outside Revolution de Cuba. These improvements will provide a safer and more accessible route for cyclists while enhancing the overall street environment.

Progress has also been made between Baracoa and the Northeast Junction, where paving works to the footway are now complete. The next phase of works in this area will include the construction of a foundation above the tree pits to enable the footway and traffic island to be constructed, alongside the installation of new tactile paving at crossing points to improve accessibility for all users.

These improvements continue to support the wider transformation of the Southern Corridor, creating a more welcoming, sustainable and user-friendly environment for residents, businesses and visitors. These improvements will help create a more attractive and functional environment for pedestrians and road users alike.
