May update - Otley Bridge Footway

Otley Bridge footway replacement:

Night closures 27-29 May followed by lane closures

From 8pm to 5am 27 - 29 May, full night closures of Otley Bridge are in place to enable the installation of concrete barriers and lining works. (A third night 29 May is a contingency closure).  Please see the signed diversion route. Pedestrian access will be maintained across the river. 

From 30 May for two weeks from 8pm to 5am, lane closures with two-way traffic lights will be in place at Otley Bridge. This is for the installation of the catenary system which will hold service cables in place during the main footway works. As with all night working, we will try our best to carry out noisy work early in the night and deploy noise mitigation measures whenever possible. While some disturbance and inconvenience are inevitable, we will do our best to minimise disruption.

 Subject to weather the above dates may change.

Temporary footbridge installation almost complete

Last month the large crane lifted in place part of the temporary footbridge which was then fully pushed into position. The temporary footway is on schedule to be opened before the end of May.

Do you have a lovelock on the footway?

The existing footway with lovelocks attached is being removed, which means any locks will also be removed. If you have placed a lock on the bridge, please remove it before 23 May. Please ensure not to damage the parapet during removal as it creates Health & Safety issues. Any unclaimed locks will be stored until 30 June and are available for collection by contacting connectingleeds@leeds.gov.uk. Any locks not collected will be disposed of.
