Hyde Park Street Parking

Hyde Park street parking proposals

These proposals include creating traffic management interventions in the form of Traffic Regulation Orders. The area of concern sits within the boundary of Burley Road, Cardigan Road, Victoria Road, Hyde Park Road and Woodsley Road.

This consultation runs until Thursday 22 June seeks your views on the current proposals. You can take part in the consultation by completing feedback to the survey and reviewing the detailed maps..

Background

The council’s received feedback on indiscriminate, obstructive and long stay (non-residential) parking at numerous locations across the area.

This scheme if introduced, will seek to remove long stay commuter parking from the area and reduce the amount of traffic. It will help make the roads a safer place for those choosing to walk and cycle.

Proposals

The proposed scheme aims to introduce the following restrictions spread around the area:

  • Limited Waiting (Mon-Sat, 8am-6pm, 2 or 4 hours, with no return within 2 or 4 hours): This will allow short stay parking, to provide an area where there is a turnover of available parking for customers to shops or school related parking.
  • Permit Parking: This restriction will allow any resident with a vehicle registered to their address to apply for a permit.
  • No Waiting at Any Time: This restriction will remove obstructive parking from dangerous locations such as at junctions.
  • A short length of one-way road on Pearson Grove from Queens Road, next to the Hyde Park Picture House.
  • Introduce disabled parking bays on Brudenell Road for the Hyde Park Picture House.
