Key Projects

Grant funding

We will be offering grants to properties located between 23 and 51 New Briggate to fund conservation and refurbishment projects such as repairs to roofs and elevations, the reinstatement of traditional windows and shopfronts and refurbishment of vacant upper floors to bring them back into use.

Public Realm improvements

Public spaces across New Briggate have already seen significant improvements as part of the Connecting Leeds programme. This includes the removal of bus stops, widening of pavements, and the laying of new conservation appropriate York stone paving.

Community Engagement and Cultural Programme

A programme of activities and events for local people to learn more about New Briggate and the regeneration project will be announced in the coming months.

Work is underway with a cultural consortium of organisations headed by East Street Arts to research and share the culture and history of New Briggate, celebrating the past and future of the street.
