How should we plan for greenspace and the natural environment?
Leeds Local Plan
The Environment
What is this topic about?
Leeds’ green spaces, woods, countryside, wetlands and urban green and river corridors (‘green and blue infrastructure’) are part of what makes the district’s character and sense of place. They also have a really important role in helping deal with climate change, supporting the resilience of our places to warmer and drier summers and wetter winters, and provide a wide range of habitats. The Plan will need to ensure that green and blue infrastructure is integrated into development planning, and help enhance biodiversity.
We want to hear your views on how we should be planning for green and blue infrastructure, including the overall approach to green and blue spaces (including open spaces and routes through the City Centre, open land in urban areas and other types of ‘green space’ sites), how we deliver biodiversity improvements, protect and improve habitats, trees and woodlands, encourage opportunities for locally grown food, and meet the needs for burial spaces.
