The feedback from these events has helped shape the scope of the projects being taken forward. Morley Town Investment Plan drafted

April 2020 - December 2020
Leeds City Council's Executive Board approved the submission of the Morley Town Investment Plan (TIP) to Central Government in December 2020.

Morley Town Deal Board established

September 2020
Morley Town Deal Board (“the Board”) has been established as an Outside Body to the Council to support the development and delivery of a Town Investment Plan that will realise the opportunity presented by the government’s offer of a Morley Town Deal. It is anticipated that this Board will continue to meet for a minimum of three years, beginning in Autumn 2020, although this will remain under review and the Board may have a longer term role.

Morley selected for Towns Funding

2019
In 2019 Morley was selected by government as one of 100 towns across England to bid for funding of up to £25m from the Towns Fund programme. In response to this the Council moved quickly to support the formation of a Town Deal Board comprising local stakeholders and residents, with a private sector chair as set out by the government’s guidelines. A major public online consultation exercise was undertaken in Morley in early 2020 to inform the development of the TIP bid for Towns Fund monies.
