St Matthew's Community Centre and The Old Box Office

St Matthews has long been a vital hub where the community comes together to support one another. This funding will enable essential physical repairs and improvements to the St Matthews Community Centre, allowing Holbeck Together and other local groups to expand their services supporting local residents with food, employment advice, health, and more.

The impact will be far-reaching: restoring a sense of pride and belonging in Holbeck, strengthening community identity, and empowering local residents to shape their own future.

With improved facilities, increased access to support services, and a stronger foundation for community leadership, this project is not just about buildings - it’s about improving health, wellbeing, and opportunity for everyone in the area. For more information on the services provided by Holbeck Together please visit their website here.

The Old Box Office on the corner of Domestic Street is currently used as an office space for Holbeck Together.

In partnership with Leeds Building Society, (the current owners), Holbeck Together have identified the potential to extend the use of additional space in the building for the community's benefit. This is being supported by Leeds Building Society.

Designs are being developed to re-purpose the buildings existing use to accommodate:

- A larger social supermarket (a smaller version is currently hosted in St Matthews);

- Holbeck Together's charity shop 're:loved'

- Space for Holbeck Together's staff team; and

- Other accessible community spaces to host events and activities.
