Below is an update regarding construction of the Leeds City Links scheme in Leeds city centre.
Great George Street
Our contractor is continuing with paving works directly outside businesses on Great George Street and will inform affected frontages and agree the schedule once ready. Once this work is finished the new, wider footpaths will be open to pedestrians and works will move to the opposite side of the road (Leeds General Infirmary side) to start work on the cycle lane. We realise these works are disruptive and thank everyone for their understanding.
Woodhouse Lane/Albion Street/Great George Street junction
A road closure is currently in place on one arm of the Woodhouse Lane/Albion Street/Great George Street junction – this is due to be removed by the end of May.
Works here are progressing well, however there have been some unforeseen issues, and we cannot open the carriageway until it is safe to do so. Works have commenced on the corner of the footway outside K2 (near Riley’s Sports Bar) shortly, which has involved closing a small section of the footpath temporarily with a diversion in place.
Call Lane
Construction here is currently focused on the junction of Call Lane and Leeds Bridge (outside The Bridge Bar) and along the Southern footpath between Crown Street and Bridge End (outside Unite, The New Penny, and The Bridge Bar).
Our contractor has removed the existing kerb line, alongside preparations for a new pedestrian crossing and excavation works have been undertaken at Bridge End to make way for the new cycle lanes.
Thank you for your continued patience during the works. You can contact us at any time at connectingleeds@leeds.gov.uk.
