A58 Improvements
The consultation in March and April last year resulted in 744 members of the public responding. Overall, 47% of respondents supported the plans, with many comments focusing on traffic and congestion alleviation, safer provision for pedestrians and cyclists and parking and access to local businesses. A further breakdown of the consultation results is located here.
To recap, the junctions in the Bayswater Triangle area combined make it the Council’s number one site of concern for road safety in Leeds.
Since public consultation, Officers have been working closely with local ward councillors and businesses in the area to revise the scheme to alleviate some concerns. In December 2025 local stakeholders and councillors agreed on a revised design and this was sent, via a letter, to affected local residents to feedback on the revised plans.
The revised design is now our preferred option and we are working on finalising the designs for this (known as 'detailed design'). Please see the revised design here.
Subject to approvals, construction is scheduled for Spring 2028 and will last approximately 18 months.
If you have any questions regarding the scheme please contact connectingleeds@leeds.gov.uk.
