Dawsons Corner

Major improvement works at Dawsons Corner are continuing to make good progress, with the scheme now entering its final stages of construction.

Over the summer, essential repairs and resurfacing were successfully completed on the Stanningley Bypass, including the resurfacing of the Bradford-bound (eastbound) carriageway, helping to improve the condition of this key route between Leeds and Bradford.

New drone photographs show the significant transformation that has already taken place across the junction, with new highway infrastructure, crossing facilities and junction improvements now clearly taking shape.

The next phase of works began on Monday 12 October and will involve four weeks of night-time working across the junction. These works will focus on completing the remaining traffic islands and carrying out maintenance activities ahead of the final resurfacing phase later this year.

To minimise disruption during busy daytime periods, works are taking place between 8pm and 5am, Monday to Friday. Various lane closures will be required on all approaches to Dawsons Corner as work progresses across different parts of the junction. The works are site-wide and, over the coming weeks, every area of the junction will be worked on in some way as preparations continue for final surfacing.

Access to New Pudsey railway station and Owlcotes Shopping Centre will be maintained throughout the works. While some activities may be noisy, every effort will be made to minimise impacts on nearby residents and businesses, including the use of noise-reducing measures where possible.

The final stage of the project will see the completion of major resurfacing works across the junction and Stanningley Bypass, with further details to be shared closer to the time.

We would like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their continued patience and support as we move closer to completing this important scheme, which will help reduce congestion, improve bus journey reliability and provide safer facilities for people walking and cycling.
