Morley town centre improvements coming in 2026
The Greener and Connected programme is creating new and improved public realm across Morley town centre.
Morley Town Deal
New town centre public realm to be started in 2026
Morley Town Centre pedestrianised streets and main roads will shortly be invested in as part of Morley Town Deal funding.
The first schemes to enter construction will be on Queen Street pedestrianised area/main high street and Commercial Street.
Core objectives
- To create a more legible streetscape with a clearer identity.
- To provide a more attractive setting for local businesses and shoppers.
- To bring more greenery and biodiversity into the heart of Morley town centre.
- To widen footways and upgrade with high quality materials.
- Reduce the impact of vehicular traffic through the town centre.
A contractor for both schemes will start works in November and will be in touch with residents and businesses.
Following these first two schemes, the rest of Queen Street north and the area outside of the Town Hall by Windsor Court will also be improved.
