Last year, we spent around £1.8 million clearing homes after tenants moved out, plus another £1 million on avoidable repairs. That money could have been used to improve homes — for example, by fitting new kitchens and bathrooms.
Our Tenancy Agreement allows us to charge tenants for these costs, but we haven’t done so very often. Your views will help us shape how we introduce and explain these charges.
