Armley Town Street

Following a successful public consultation and the confirmation of funding from the Combined Authority, we are progressing the active travel scheme in Armley.

The scheme will deliver changes to the bus, cycling and walking infrastructure along Armley Town Street, making it easier and safer for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users to travel into and through this busy, local high street.

The proposals include wider footways, four new and five upgraded pedestrian crossings, a bus-only section, two modal filters (bollards and planters to restrict vehicle access), 20 mph speed restrictions, nine disabled parking spaces, 13 new trees and 258 sqm of planting beds.

We are now proceeding to the statutory legal advertisement of this proposal. The statutory consultation will run from Thursday 30 July 2026 to Monday 31 August 2026. During this period, anyone wishing to make comments in support or against the advertised proposal may do so using the contact details provided below. All representations received within the statutory consultation period will be considered in line with the relevant legislation before a final decision is made.

Should you have any queries regarding the details, please do not hesitate to contact us via the email address provided.

Details of the proposals including plans showing the affected lengths of highway and the Council’s Statement of Reasons for the Order are available on request by e-mailing troteam@leeds.gov.uk.

If you wish to object to, or make any representations concerning the proposed Order, you should write to TRO Team, City Development, Merrion House, Merrion Street LS2 8LX or e-mail troteam@leeds.gov.uk specifying the grounds on which your objection or representation is made no later than Monday 31 August 2026.
