Morley Town Deal

Owners of historically significant properties in the Morley Conservation Area are encouraged to submit their interest for potential grant funding to restore heritage properties through the Flexible Fund.

The Heritage Investment Fund consists of two different grant streams:

  1. The Heritage Shopfront Grant Fund is the main objective of the project and aims to reinstate traditional shopfronts that are sympathetic to the unique Morley Conservation Area, and can include external heritage improvements such as stonework.

  1. The Flexible Fund is open to potentially larger properties, not restricted to shopfronts, and can include part-funding for more comprehensive works.

Property owners who may be interested in the Flexible Fund are asked to submit proposals to the email below by 21st February 2025 in order to be considered.

Funding is limited and all proposals will be assessed against the overall budget of the Heritage Investment Fund and wider programme aims, including bringing vacant/unused floorspace back into use, an increase in heritage and cultural activities and jobs creation.

Proposals will need to take into consideration the following criteria being met:

  • End use of the historically significant property must include retail, office or leisure.

  • Evidence of the ability to provide match funding towards the overall costs. The Flexible Fund will only provide part of the costs for the works.

  • Working towards an advanced stage of design and relevant planning and statutory consents in place as relevant.

  • Demonstration of deliverability of the works by the Morley Town Deal end date of March 2026.

For further information on how to submit proposals please get in touch with our Heritage Regeneration Officer via: morleytowndeal@leeds.gov.uk
