Creating more pedestrian and cycle space outside schools
Leeds City Council is committed to creating spaces outside schools, especially at busy drop off and pick up times. This will enable parents and children to maintain social distancing at the school gate, as well as addressing air quality and promoting active travel. We would like to restrict vehicular traffic by implementing pedestrian and cycle zones around schools at drop off and pick up times.
From feedback received in the phase 1 consultation we have been delivered interventions to trial around six primary schools: Ingram Road, Clapgate, Thorpe Primary, Primrose Hill, Crossgates Primary and Lane End. The intention is to roll this out to other schools within Leeds for September.
