Morley Town Deal
Luminate Education Group (the development arm of Leeds City College) has submitted a full planning and listed building application to the Local Planning Authority this month. The building is Grade II listed and requires listed building consent. The planning and listed building applications set out proposals to repurpose and refurbish the former St Mary’s in the Wood church hall, located on Commercial Street in the centre of Morley and Morley Conservation Area, into an Adult Learning and Skills Centre that will serve the people of Morley and surrounding areas.
The Adult Learning and Skills Centre will offer a range of courses aimed at improving the digital and technical skills of adult learners. The full curriculum is still being considered, however the refurbishment of St Mary’s in the Wood will deliver a mix of engineering technical space, digital technical space, CAD space, traditional classroom spaces and the installation of a lift to improve accessibility in the building.
The full suite of planning application documents can be found at the link here. Statutory public consultation on the planning submission is open until 10th July 2024.
