Thank you for your interest in our proposed changes at Fink Hill Junction and for the feedback you provided.

We held a public consultation on our proposals between 27th January and 24th February 2020. People were able to provide feedback online, in person at Horsforth Library, by email, phone or letter and in person during a well attended event at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Horsforth. Over 4,500 visitors accessed the materials online during the consultation period. In total 334 responses were received, of which 57% were positive, 24% were negative, and the remaining 19% were neutral.

It was clear that those responding shared concerns about safety at and near Fink Hill Junction and the proposed changes were generally supported. Respondents highlighted that the issues they felt were the most important to address through an improvement scheme were better traffic flow and improved pedestrian facilities.

Respondents were asked which parts of the proposals they supported. There were high levels of support for:

New pedestrian crossings (63% of respondents)

Road widening to form 2 lanes (57% of respondents)

Simplifying the junction (34% of respondents)

New cycle facilities (33% of respondents)

Respondents also let us know which parts of the proposals they did not support. The key issues raised were:

Banned turns to reduce conflict (28% of respondents)

Nothing I like all of the proposals (19% of respondents)

Road widening (13% of respondents)

Cycling facilities (13% of respondents)

Other comments were also received which are also being considered. We are working through the feedback received to understand where we can make updates to the designs. We will provide a further update when we have more information to share.
