Construction footbridges
Final structure installation Wellington Road footbridge February 2025. Motorist and pedestrian impacts, with diversions.
Armley Gyratory
Armley Gyratory Wellington Road footbridge road, lane closures and diversions February 2025

Road works and planned disruptions will take place around the Armley Gyratory Wellington Road (A58) inbound and outbound at 8pm Saturday 8 February until 530am Monday 10 February for new footbridge installation.
Lane closures will remain 24/7 from Monday 10 February until completion over the next few weeks.
Construction will take place at the weekend to take account of less traffic across the city and reduce the effect on motorists and the wider community.
Motorists travelling around the Armley Gyratory are advised to plan ahead, follow the signed diversions, and allow extra time for their journeys.
The removal and replacement of the Wellington Road footbridge over the Armley Gyratory is the final phase to create more accessible footways, set to complete with a new bridge in place by early spring 2025.
Leeds City Council’s Connecting Leeds team are working hard to deliver these improvements as quickly as possible and apologise for some significant disruption to journeys.
The current Armley structure programme:
Spence Bridge (2a) May 2024 bridge construction completed.
Geldard Bridge (2a) January 2024 bridge construction completed.
Wellington Road Bridge (2b) removal July 2024 and construction planned 8 - 10 February 2025..
Travel advice
For the Armley Gyratory footway for people walking or wheeling, there will be a diversion in place until early 2025, while works take place on constructing the new bridges.

To allow for this Wellington Road footbridge work to be completed, motorists are advised there will be a weekend partial closure, starting 8pm Saturday 8 February, until 530am Monday 10 February.
With the Armley Gyratory approach to A58 Wellington Road inbound and outbound will be closed, re-opening outside of these hours with lane restrictions.
