Love Leeds

How is this different from every other consultation we've had?

Through the Love Leeds programme, we will not just ask what matters to you - we are committed to working with you, local groups and services to agree practical actions and make visible improvements in your community. We will tell you what we heard, what we are doing and if we cannot act on something, why.  We will also be providing updates of our work in individual wards on dedicated project pages. To sign up for notifications go to your ward and add your email address in the box on the main page. Updates will also be provided through Leeds City Council social media channels such as Facebook and X, so please do follow us if you are able to.

Isn't this just a council clean-up exercise?

No, Love Leeds is not just focused on cleaning. We will also be engaging with residents to hear their views and identify potential improvements on issues relating to public health, housing, parks and greenspaces, policing, and youth and highway services. Your views will be crucial in informing the activity which will take place and the improvements made, so please don’t miss out on the chance to have your say. This way we can ensure the work and activities which are delivered are both meaningful and long lasting in your community. Whilst the initial work undertaken through Love Leeds will primarily focus on clean-ups and other visible improvements, this is not a one-off action and will form just one element of our planned work in the programme.

How will Love Leeds ensure local improvements reflect what residents actually want?

We want the community to be at the heart of Love Leeds and that’s why engagement with both residents and local organisations and groups in your area is a key part of the programme.

Through Love Leeds, we will ask you what matters most in your area and involve you in shaping the priorities. We will bring residents, councillors, council services and local partners together to agree what should happen. We will then tell you what we heard, what action we are taking and how your views influenced the decisions, with updates on your ward’s web page. To stay up to date, sign up to notifications on your ward’s page.

What exactly can and cannot be delivered through Love Leeds?

We will use the resources and funding available through the Love Leeds programme to support realistic local improvements agreed with you. We will tell you what can happen next and be honest if something needs more time and funding. We will also be creative and innovative to explore what opportunities might be available outside of Love Leeds with partners and stakeholders to inspire further improvements and positive change in partnership with you, as local residents.

Why wasn't my issue already fixed?

We understand why you may feel frustrated that an issue you raised has not been resolved or added to the Love Leeds work programme. Some local issues have been around for a long time and may need further investigative work and involve outside agencies, services or organisations. We will be honest with you about what can be fixed quickly, what may take longer or need further investigation or require more money or decisions outside the programme. We will ensure that we feed back the comments we receive through our engagement work with you to the relevant council service or partner organisation/outside agency for awareness.
