Hoberman Park

About

Hoberman Park is one of the largest parks in the city and has a lot to offer. It is home to little league fields, playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, and a skatepark. The park is used by many, but is in need of an upgrade! The City of Lock Haven has planned phases of improvements based on community input.

Fall 2023: Lock Haven Skatepark -

A new cement skatepark and pumptrack were constructed. As soon as it opened, users of all ages took advantage of the unique facility built based on a community-led design process!

Summer 2024: Park Improvements -

A new playground was built at Hoberman Park with the help of volunteers and experts from KABOOM! After a community-led design process, about 150 volunteers came together on August 1, 2, and 3 to construct a new playground. Shortly after, the rubber fall surface was installed and the playground was available for play!

Thank you to all who volunteered and sponsored the new playground!

Summer 2025: Park Improvements -

The final phases of improvements will be completed between May and September 2025! These improvements include a new basketball court, multipurpose court, ball field upgrades, new restroom, renovation of both parking lots, walking path, pavilions, and various seating options.

IMPORTANT NOTICES

  • The skatepark, ball fields, and playground will remain open during construction. Please be cautious of construction crews.
  • The parking lot off of Logran Street and Williams Alley will be closed for construction equipment. The parking lot off of E Park Street will remain open for visitors. This may change as construction progresses. Please utilize street parking when able as it will be available through the project.

Funding Sources -

The City of Lock Haven has been awarded several grants that combine to fund the Hoberman Park Improvements project almost completely. The funding totals about $1.9 million and comes from various sources including the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).
