Sustainable Streets

Our Sustainable Streets programme aims to reduce the number of car journeys in Lewisham and encourage more people to walk, cycle and use public transport. This will help reduce traffic, congestion and pollution, as well as improving road safety and lowering carbon emissions.

To achieve this, we want to create streets that encourage people to travel more sustainably, discourage unnecessary car journeys and make better use of road space and pavements.

Residential permit parking has been in place in Hindsley Place (Zone C) since 1997 and operates from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6:30pm. As the area changes and grows, we want to review how this is working and understand what further changes in the area would make your streets safer and more sustainable.

There are two parts to the programme:

  • A review of existing permit parking in the area to see if operation hours need to be extended
  • An interactive mapping exercise to find out what sustainable measures residents would like to see on their streets. Please scroll down the page to complete this after the survey.

Mapping exercise

We want to hear from everyone who lives in the area about what measures residents would like to see on their street to make your streets safer and more sustainable.

A stylised example of an interactive map. The example includes arrows pointing at different locations with details about what measures they want to see there.

Use our interactive map to share your feedback and ideas about:

  • Parking: Are there still issues with parking on your road? Should more visitor parking be available? Do parking signs or road markings need to be reviewed?
  • Sustainable transport measures: Where would you like to see more cycle hangars, street trees, electric vehicle charging points or car clubs (e.g. Zipcar)?

Have your say on the interactive map

If you cannot use the interactive map, please share your feedback via this survey.
