Earlier this year, we asked for your feedback on our plans to transform Lewisham library, market and high street.
A huge thanks to the nearly 1,500 of you who took the time to share your thoughts. Overall, you were really positive about our proposals but you did also have some constructive advice around things including maintenance, market traders and personal safety.

Meet the team

Lewisham Council is responsible for reviewing the data collected from this engagement and will use this to shape any future proposals.
This is a collaborative process and the engagement team is working in conjunction with officers from the Council’s Transport, Highways, Business and Markets teams, in addition to external consultants, to deliver this engagement process.

public works is a not-for-profit critical design practice set up in 2004 working across architecture, art and performance.
They have extensive experience running community engagement programmes for large projects and are working with the Council, in conjunction with Architecture 00, to deliver the engagement process for the Lewisham Library, Culture and Community Hub.

Architecture 00 is a London-based design practice with a track record in delivering a broad range of activities relating to the shaping of our built environment.
Architecture 00 is working in conjunction with public works to lead the design process for Lewisham Library, Culture and Business Hub.

Project Centre is a design, engineering and landscape architecture consultancy, passionate about creating places that are attractive, innovative, sustainable and safe.
The Design Team at Project Centre are designing Lewisham High Street and Market, and the Engagement Team are supporting with the consultation activities.


This project is partly funded by the UK Government’s Levelling up fund which is a programme of investment in infrastructure that improves everyday life across the UK, including regenerating town centres and high streets, upgrading local transport, and investing in cultural and heritage assets.
Councils bid for money and then are selected and allocated funds. Lewisham Council was successful in its bid in early 2023.
