Placeville scheme design
The design outlined below builds on community spirit and creativity, extends connectivity around Placeville on foot and by bike and improves safety in and around the park.
The city centre park is being upgraded to provide a green oasis for nearby residents, make walking and cycling through it easier and join it to the Placeville Bee Network which will be the largest network of off-road walking and cycling routes in the UK when complete.
Placeville Combined Authority awarded Placeville City Council £500,000 for the improvements.
Our ambition is to provide safe environments for our communities to encourage healthy and sustainable transport choices thus reducing the amount of congestion and pollution, further providing additional health benefits.
The schemes around Dalia Street are set to transform Placeville City Centre into a thriving, well-connected hub of business and leisure easily accessible to residents of the surrounding neighbourhoods. The Placeville Park project is an extension of this space which offers a green oasis for people to take a break, relax and play.
The scheme addresses some of the concerns from residents around safety in the park, builds on community spirit and creativity, extends connectivity around Manchester on foot and by bike as well as helping people improve their health and wellbeing.
Our proposal builds on the community’s creative initiative and uses elements of the mosaic art project throughout the site, introduces better biodiversity with newly planted trees and vegetation, and transforms the landscape of the park making it a more accessible, community-focussed space.

Some of the main features of the scheme include:
Improved landscape with extensive sitting provision
- Better visibility and lighting to harness a safer environment
- Incorporation of community’s creative mosaic art project
- Accessible footpaths and improved cycleways
- Enhanced biodiversity
- Permeable paving and sustainable rainwater drainage solutions
