Lewisham Homes New Initiatives team have been looking at the best way to deliver new council-owned homes for social rent. Mayfield hostel has been identified as a potential site for redevelopment. In 2018 a planning application was granted for the site, which allowed for us to redevelop the hostel into a mixture of 47 social rented apartments along with a flexible commercial space on the ground floor. Since then economic conditions have changed significantly and the shortage of genuinely affordable and social homes in our borough has become even more acute. As a result, we are having to look again at the scheme and revisit the plans.

We are developing new proposals for the site and will share these with residents and invite feedback when they are more progressed.
