Riverdale Sculpture Park Festival: First Community Gathering

Tuesday, June 23  •  1 PM - 4 PM

Free workshop: create Riverdale myths, make puppets and help shape a new community festival celebrating the park and river.

As you may be aware, the Riverdale Millennium Sculpture Park will be undergoing works to improve its environmental potential, attractiveness and accessibility.

It is important that the community feel a real sense of ownership around the park, and so this workshop is to scope the idea of a small annual festival for the local community to celebrate the Riverdale green space and the Ravensbourne river that brings people together.

This workshop will provide an opportunity for people to contribute to the development of a new ‘folk tale’ or legend for the Riverdale Sculpture Park and the Ravensbourne River around which the festival can be based.

It will explore the potential for increasing the biodiversity of the area and how people can become involved in caring for and ‘claiming’ the space. It will allow people to dream of what might be possible when we work together in developing an idea and a vision.

It will be led by The Community Brain and Smoking Apples, an innovative puppetry and visual theatre group. We hope that you might want to come along and have fun developing ideas.
