Completed works

The proposed improvements will build upon other recent walking and cycling infrastructure projects within the borough, including: 

• Lea Bridge Road and Hoe Street. 
• Woodford New Road to the north and south of the Waterworks Roundabout. 
• Works to the north, link Waltham Forest to the London Borough of Redbridge. 

Works previously completed along Forest Road include:

• Segregated raised cycle tracks, one ‘with flow’ on each side of the road
• Low level SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems), Tree and rain garden planting separating the cyclists from vehicles. The planting aims to reduce surface water run off and improve biodiversity
• New and improved ‘single stage’ pedestrian and cycle crossings which allow the user to cross more easily
• Junction improvements to make the road easier to navigate and safer for all road users
• Bus shelter improvements including new accessible bus stops
• Public space improvements with connections to the new residential developments and Wetlands
• Upgraded traffic signals to help manage traffic flow
• New secure cycle parking facilities and the introduction of new Sheffield style stands
• 20mph speed limit maintained.
