Old Church Road Phasing Plan

• Construction works will begin from Monday 20 October 2025 and are expected to continue over a period of approximately 7- 10 months.

• The phasing is indicative and has been simplified to give residents and businesses an indication of when works will take place in their area. Some tasks may need to be carried out in a different order due to on-site conditions or logistical requirements.

• All phases are planned to begin from the north of the works area and progress south towards Albert Crescent.

• Old Church Road will be open to traffic and access to properties and businesses will be maintained throughout the construction period. The phasing of the works will ensure that pedestrian access is maintained to all businesses for the full duration of the works. However, please note that there may be periods where single lane restrictions may be in place to facilitate specific phases of construction. Notice of these periods will be placed on site in advance.

• Repaving the high street. New granite kerbs and slabs providing an accessible, appealing and inviting streetscape.
• Tree planting. Bringing the forest to the high street with new trees planted along Old Church Road while maintaining existing parking.
• Seating areas. New attractive seating across the high street providing opportunities for social interaction and increasing time people spend in the area.
• Rain gardens. Permeable pavement and planting for flood mitigation and to enhance the attractiveness of the high street.
• Improved lighting and crossings. Installing new high-quality lighting across the high street to improve safety. Upgrading pedestrian crossings to reduce crossing distances and improve connectivity.
