Leytonstone Area Framework
Purpose of the Area Framework
The purpose of the Leytonstone Town Centre Area Framework is to help coordinate future development and better direct future funding.
The framework will help us to realise the benefits of planned growth for local people by guiding and directing investment into identified resident priorities and projects. This might include new play space and open space improvements, climate adaptation initiatives, health facilities, community spaces and social infrastructure.
The first phase of public engagement on the Leytonstone Area Framework was in November 2021, and included information and an opportunity to feedback on Site Allocations proposed for Leytonstone Town Centre. A further round of consultation specifically focussed on the Boroughs Site Allocations is proposed for Autumn 2023.
The feedback received in phase one of the Leytonstone Town Centre Area Framework has been used to create these engagement boards, which lists possible projects and initiatives that could be delivered in Leytonstone .

Phase 1 engagement response
We held our first phase of public engagement in November 2021 where we asked people to tell us their priorities for future investment, development and regeneration in Leytonstone. This included two in-person drop in engagement events and an online consultation platform to help gather feedback.
We asked residents to provide their feedback on five topics and the 324 responses were distributed as follows:

Empty heading
Comments that received the most support
"Leytonstone is dominated by the car, which has a knock on effect on retail in the area [...] it is not a pleasant High Street to walk down because of the traffic"
"Affordability is key, changes should not push out existing residents"
"Prioritise climate resilience, flood mitigation and air pollution mitigation"
"We need more safe walking, cycling and green routes in Leytonstone"
"I love the idea of more parklets!"
"We must prioritise promotion of the arts in Leytonstone Town Centre"
"Ensuring that we create a better connection across the Green Man Roundabout is central - the current layout and general state prioritises the car over wildlife, pedestrian, and cycling safety. The area is unsafe, blighted with litter and disconnects Wanstead and Leyton."
"I can't see how the development of a tower block could possibly ever enhance the setting of a listed building or support the existing character of the town centre"
