Reach Code Update

Los Altos Hills adopted Reach Code for new residences in 2022 and are working on updating Reach Code to encompass remodel projects. This presents an exciting opportunity for residents to actively participate in shaping the future of sustainable living in our community.

What is Reach Code?
The Reach Code is a set of local ordinances that go beyond the California Building Standards Code (Title 24) requirements, aiming to promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and overall sustainability in construction projects. Reach Code often includes requirements for using renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind turbines, and energy-efficient construction, including insulation, lighting, and appliances. It also promotes sustainable design principles, such as using eco-friendly materials, water conservation measures, and green spaces. Reach Code may also incorporate resilience measures to address natural disasters.
