Community Update: Master Plan Implementation Progress
Master Plan Implementation Progress
A nomination of the Patterson Farm as the Thomas Janney Historic Agricultural District for listing on the National Register of Historic Places was submitted this week to the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office. The review process is anticipated to take approximately 9-12 months; however, the Township is hopeful for a favorable result by early 2027.
Lower Makefield Township is proud to share that we received an $860,000 Local Share Account – Statewide Program Grant on December 18, 2025 from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support historic preservation work at the Patterson Farmstead. This funding will allow the Township to preserve and protect this important historic site so it can continue to be enjoyed by the community for years to come. Once the grant paperwork is finalized we will engage a consultant with experience in historic preservation to prepare design documents for bidding and construction.
The Township completed asbestos abatement in several buildings in December; including the 2 houses, the packing house, and one of the garages. During this work we found 3 types of masonry, called nogging, between the wall studs hidden behind the asbestos paneling recently removed at the Satterthwaite house on the Patterson Farm.
