Bobby Ray Wetland Park Project
Project Overview: New park development located at 504 N. Chancery St. behind Bobby Ray Elementary School
Located behind Bobby Ray Elementary School and along Calvin St., this project spans 5 acres and will lead to the construction of a new park designed to serve multiple purposes for the citizens of McMinnville and Warren County
Stormwater Management Features
This park will act as a stormwater management area, incorporating 3 different stormwater control measures that include:
- Detention Pond
- Permeable Parking Area
- Wetland Rehabilitation
These featuers will ensure that water is absorbed and detained on the property before moving downstream to the karst formation, whereby preventing issues that have previously affected residents in the area.
Educational and Recreation al Amenities
In addtion to stormwater control measures, the park will also feature:
- Education Placards: Informative signs explaining the stormwater mangement features and their roles, and the wetland ecosystem.
- Boardwalk: A scenic walking path for exercise and learning
- Outdoor Classroom Seating: Seating that can accommodate Bobby Ray Elementary students as a learning opportunity.
Funding
This project is funded through a grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation totaling $530,000 with an additional $26,500 in matching funds.
