Honoring Our Roots: The Warren County Nursery Heritage Project

This version is definitely heavy on "grant-speak" (phrases like transformative, multi-faceted tribute, and forward-looking sustainability). To keep the "warm and fuzzy" heritage feel we've been building, we need to strip away the technical jargon and speak directly to the residents.

Here is the rewrite in our new, respectful, and down-to-earth tone:

The "Street-Speak" Rewrite
Warren County has earned its title as the "Nursery Capital of the World" through generations of hard work and local pride. As we look toward America’s 250th anniversary, the City of McMinnville is working to honor that legacy by revitalizing the alley between 224 and 232 E. Main Street.

This project is about more than just fixing the basics, like our outdated irrigation and struggling trees. It’s an opportunity to turn this path into a celebration of our history—starting with the native plants that first defined our soil and moving through the eras of early seedlings, world-class orchards, and the global nursery innovations we see today.

We want this space to be a tribute that looks forward while respecting the historic architecture that makes our downtown special. Your perspective is the most important part of this process. By sharing your thoughts, you help us ensure that the final design truly reflects our community’s priorities and the heritage we all share.
