State & Main Street Reconstruction Project

(East State Street & Rialto Bridge)
Project Close-Out Schedule
July 25, 2025

As we work to wrap up the project, we wanted to provide an update to businesses, residents, and the community on what to expect while this project gets finished. All paving is set to occur on the afternoon and evening of July 31. The paving date was pushed back due to scheduling with the curb setters. Next week on State Street, the one-way traffic with the detour setup will be used on Monday and Tuesday while Hebert Excavation prepares for pouring sidewalk on the southern side (Positive Pie) of the street up against the buildings.

Additionally, they will reinstall the lighting pole base, parking meters, and signs in this area. The first pour of concrete is scheduled for the afternoon on July 28th, 2025. They will focus on sidewalks along the buildings between Botanica Florals and Yellow Mustard. On July 29th, the sidewalk contractor will return to finish pouring that section of sidewalk. During this time, parking will be limited in the vicinity of where crews will be working. We will be trying to maintain access to all businesses during this time. If you have the ability to direct patrons to another entrance, that would be great. Ramps will be built to maintain access to apartments and businesses with only one access point. When practical, we will try to coordinate only pouring half of the entrance to maintain the normal access point. We realize that this work will be impactful, but we are trying to minimize the potential impacts to business while this work is occurring.

On July 30th and July 31st, we will be closing State Street to through traffic while the curb setters set the nearly 700’ of new granite curbing. They will likely start on State Street and then move to Main Street when complete. The choice to close the road was difficult, but it was determined that it would be best to make this decision in advance so that people can plan and businesses can plan accordingly. Closing the road will allow the curb setters to get in and out as quickly as possible while maintaining quality work. During the day of the 31st, the roadway will remain closed while Hebert removes the existing asphalt and prepares the roadway for final paving.

On the afternoon of the 31st, crews will start by paving the base course on Main Street. If the pavement cools fast enough, they will likely stay in that same location and finish up with the top course. Once the roadway is fully prepped, they will pave State Street. We currently anticipate that work will start in the early evening on the 31st on State Street, with Main Street paving occurring during the day. On the morning of Friday, August 1st, all work on State Street will be complete except for pouring the remaining half of the concrete on the northern side of State Street. This work is scheduled to occur on Friday, the 1st, or Monday, the 4th.

Please note all dates are tentative and may change due to weather. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to complete these necessary infrastructure upgrades!
