Montpelier Senior Activity Center

Welcome to the ongoing journey of the Montpelier Senior Activity Center, a home of connection and wellness for our older community members in Central Vermont. Conveniently nestled at 58 Barre Street, this thriving center offers an impressive array of classes focusing on fine arts, humanities, fitness, and education. Each week, through the FEAST Kitchen, we cater to the nutritional needs of over a hundred older adults, ensuring they not only receive wholesome meals, but also experience the warmth of our in-person community dining.

Simultaneously, we are in the process of hiring a new Program and Membership Director who will help steer the future course of the MSAC. As we carry out this crucial process, we are also conducting MSAC Programmatic Performance Assessment. This evaluation aims to affirm the Center’s continued success and ensure its future services effectively meet the needs and desires of our members. Your voice matters and will play an integral role in shaping our upcoming initiatives, as our MSAC Advisory Committee is keenly working together to achieve these objectives.

MSAC Programmatic Performance Assessment Completion

The Montpelier Senior Activity Center (MSAC) is in a period of transition, marked by the pandemic, programmatic changes, and departure of the MSAC Director. Back in July, prior to the flood, an assessment was proposed as part of the move to closer resemble the Integrated Community Services Model (see Montpelier Integrated Community Services Study, appendix) and the reclassification of the Recreation Director to the Recreation and Senior Services Director. From the onset, it was the intention to hire a position for the Senior Center, while in process, it became clear to City Administration that there was a need for a dedicated position to fill the vacancy. The Director of Programming and Membership was created and was filled as of 2/5/2024.

The purpose of this programmatic performance assessment is to evaluate key service areas and determine if service levels are in alignment with MSAC’s mission and purpose (See appendix, Montpelier Senior Activity Center – Governance Policies & Procedures, revised November 4, 2019). The service areas studied included: programming, membership and the FEAST meals program.
